How did you get into photography?

My grandparents bought me a Kodak Instamatic camera for Christmas when I was 9 or 10 years old.  From there it’s been an obsession!  In my early years I travel the US and the Far East photographing my travels.

How did you start photographing concerts?

My concert photography journey began when I attended a show featuring Blue Oyster Cult, Black Oak, and Cheap Trick. The experience left me in awe, and I was inspired to bring my camera to my next concert. This happened to be Queen’s News of the World tour, where I had the privilege of capturing photographs of the iconic Freddie Mercury and Brian May. Since that day in 1977, I have been refining my concert photography skills., primarily in large arenas and stadiums. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of photographing numerous talented artists, such as Van Halen, Bad Company, John Denver, The Moody Blues, Chuck Berry, Ted Nugent, Triumph, Yes, and many others.

Do you have any formal training?

Following my years of formal art education, I ventured into the realm of photography to further develop my artistic skills. I have received extensive training in advanced commercial and environmental portraiture photography, advanced composition, and photographic business. In addition, I hold two college degrees – one in photojournalism and the other in computer information systems. This academic background has enabled me to expand my expertise in commercial and environmental portraiture photography, advanced composition, and photographic business practices.

What camera equipment do you use?

Currently we use several Nikon DSLR’s and a Nikon P6000 as our main cameras and a series of different lenses.  In the Studio for our YouTube Channel we use a Sony ZV-E10 and a Panasonic/Leica DMC-FH25. In the past I have used Olympus and Petri film cameras for my early work.

Where are located?

We are located deep in the heart of the Dallas / Ft. Worth Metroplex, Texas USA. Robert C. Maxfield II Photography is part of Southwest Graphic Arts Co. and has been registered with the County of Dallas Texas for over 40 years.

So what can you do for us???

At present, our services cater to the provision of materials required for electronic press kits (EPKs). Additionally, we have the ability to produce a range of merchandise, including clothing, coffee cups, koozies, social media photos, and show flyers, as well as album and press photos and other related items. If you have any specific requirements, just send us a message.

Do you ever sell the photos of the artist you photograph?

Absolutely not! We have a strict policy against selling any photos of the artists we capture on camera. Whenever we are given permission to photograph an event featuring an artist or a band, all our work is kept private, except for low-resolution images that we provide to the event organizers and our social media. Please note that the images you may come across online are significantly downscaled, and the original photos are in RAW format and much larger in size.

We do offer to provide all artists with examples of our work upon request, and if they wish to use our work, they are welcome to do so with proper photo credits. If they require further photos or services, we are always open.

We do provide higher resolution photographs for publications.  This is on a case by case basis.
